Carboneras is a Spanish municipality in the province of Almeria, Andalusia, located in the Levante Almeriense region, at an altitude of 10 masl and 63 km. from the provincial capital, Almería. In 2012 it had 8.081 inhabitants. Its surface area is 95 km² and it has a density of 76.5 inhabitants/km².

Famous for its fishing tradition, for having 78% of its territory within the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Níjar, the well-known Playa de Los Muertos, its festivals of Moors and Christians, as well as the largest desalination plant in Europe.
